Best Practices for Working with Images in PDFs
- Use appropriate resolution: For print documents, use images with at least 300 DPI. For web-only PDFs, 72-150 DPI is usually sufficient.
- Optimize file size: Large images can significantly increase your PDF file size. Consider compressing images or using web-optimized formats like JPEG for photos and PNG for graphics with transparency.
- Maintain aspect ratio: Unless specifically needed, resize images proportionally to avoid distortion.
- Consider text wrapping: When placing images alongside text, consider how the text will flow around the image.
- Use consistent styling: For professional-looking documents, maintain consistent styling for images (e.g., similar borders, sizes, or effects for similar types of images).
